Frederick The Great
- Born into the house of Hohenzollern on January 24, 1712.
- Spent many years with tutors, learning poetry, French culture, and the Greek and Roman classics.
- His father pushed him into running and defending a state.
- When he was old enough, Frederick was forced into the army and set on a course of military science and governance.
- Abused as a son, 1730 at age 18.. Frederick escaped with a childhood friend Hans Herman Von Katte.
- Caught for treason, Katte was beheaded and Frederick was placed as a junior official in local administration to learn the ways of government.
- Arranged for marriage to Elizabeth Christine of Brunswick-Bervern, in 1733.
- Quickly separated from her, and for the rest of his life, showed no interest in women.
- Took the throne upon his fathers death in 1749.
- His father left him with a strong army and many funds.
